Humanity is on the verge of collapse, says Graeme Maxton. In view of the impending climate catastrophe, the economist and former Secretary General of the "Club of Rome" is calling for drastic measures, more bans and less growth. Yves Bossart asks how this is supposed to work and why it is so difficult for us. ???? Subscribe now to SRF Kultur Sternstunden on YouTube ???? https://www.youtube.com/srfkulturster... The Scottish economist Graeme Maxton was until recently Secretary General of the "Club of Rome", based in Winterthur. This association of experts has been dealing with questions of sustainability and the future of humanity for 50 years. As early as 1972, researchers pointed to the "limits to growth" and called for a rethink. In vain, says Graeme Maxton. We now have twenty years left to save humanity from extinction. But to do this we must radically change our economic system, our lifestyle and our values with immediate effect. Less economic growth is needed, but more taxes and bans on environmentally damaging behavior, says Maxton in his new book "Change. Why we need a radical change." So does mankind need to be forced to survive? And what would a sustainable human way of life look like? Yves Bossart speaks to the controversial economist about what is probably the greatest challenge facing mankind at the moment. English version: ???? • The Future of the Human Race - TV-Tal...
