The 39th Lake Saroma 100km Ultramarathon was held on Sunday, June 30, 2024. I'm not sure if I can finish this time either, but I managed to complete it on my 9th attempt. It was a tough 100km, but the sense of accomplishment is incredible every time. I kept an eye on the weather forecast a week before the race, and it was cloudy with a high of 35 degrees! So I was prepared for a tough battle in the heat. The start starts at Yubetsu Gymnasium, goes around once and returns to the starting point, so you can cheer twice. After 10km, Lake Saroma is almost at the first turnaround. If you continue along Ryugu-kaido, you will reach the first turnaround, where you will pass all the runners and can cheer each other on. However, you will tend to speed up here, so be careful and run 20km. Take a breather and aim for the next 30km. 30km I think it's important to run relaxed from 20km to 30km. 40km In a full marathon, this is the final point where you can speed up, but in an ultra marathon, the first 50km is the first turnaround. Rather than being halfway, it was a point where there was only 4km to the 54km rest station. 54km rest station. I changed into a T-shirt I received as a Father's Day present and restarted at 60km. The key to this 6km from the rest station was how well I could relax and then push myself hard. Witch's Forest. Just like last year, there was no witch at Saito Shoten, the most difficult point in Witch's Forest. There was no witch this year, which was a shame as it was a popular point, but thank you for everything so far. Saromanian. The support of the large fishing flags was also a popular feature, and we are truly grateful! 70km Still 30km to go, no, 30km to go~ Tsuruga Resort Hotel Somen noodles and sweet red bean soup are delicacies that you can't get at the last minute, so I was able to eat them and my maximum was 80km I was told that if I made it this far by 3pm I'd be okay, but from here on out the second turnaround felt the hardest and longest Even the movement of turning around caused pain throughout my body, and I felt like I didn't really care anymore Finished for the ninth time (consecutively), the sense of accomplishment is incredible, next is the 10th Saloman Blue~ This was my second time filming a Saloma video, and having reflected on the fact that the video of the full Chitose JAL Marathon on June 2nd was shaky in the second half, I was careful this time to make sure it wasn't shaky, the video was great as it allowed me to record my expressions and actions when I was close to my limit Saloma is the best stage to realize both my weaker self and my unexpectedly strong self, it's my past self that decides my limits! I can do it! Take a step forward! An ultra marathon is not a "competition" where you compete against other runners, but rather a "running together" where you run toward the goal together, encouraging each other along the way.
