About :

The intensive training for homeland security in the Bundeswehr lasts 17 days. 17 days full of field and shooting exercises, discipline, and getting to know everyday life in the Bundeswehr. Ultimately, the purpose of homeland security is to relieve the burden on active soldiers and to support them in crisis situations. We take a look behind the scenes and accompany some of the volunteers who are training to become reservists. 00:00 This is how homeland security works in the Bundeswehr The voluntary participants in training with the Bundeswehr have a lot to do. They only have 17 days to gain an insight into the Bundeswehr and complete basic training. Normally a soldier has 2 to 3 months to do this. 00:20 Training for homeland security Serving in the Bundeswehr alongside their normal job: that is what this troop has decided to do. For them, the 17-day training is a way of getting a taste of the Bundeswehr. The first thing they learn here is military order, discipline, uniformity, and formality. First they go to the material store, where they receive their uniform and around 45 kg of equipment. 08:09 Shooting practice for the future reservists The first live shot is on the curriculum for the group today. Everything is monitored and taught to the future reservists. No one is allowed to take part in the training without a security check. Next, handling and communication in the field is practiced. Different scenarios are repeatedly played through and practiced so that they can proceed safely in an emergency. 15:05 Final exercise for the recruits Are the recruits really ready for homeland security? A test alarm is triggered in the barracks as the last exercise for the voluntary recruits. The 60 recruits have 36 hours with 20 kg in the field full of uncertainty ahead of them. The first tasks are camouflage, scouting the area and setting up camp. They also have to react quickly. 22:46 The soldiers' practice attack How difficult is it to carry out a 1 km march with breathing masks? The Bundeswehr recruits have to pass this task. Then it continues with a practice attack. There is an injured person with a silicone wound and the troops have to act quickly. No one is left behind. Then it's time to set up camp for the evening and do night duty.
