We visited the most SURREAL and risky market in Thailand, the Maeklong train market in Samut Songkhram, about 1 hour from Bangkok, south of the capital of Thailand. This market is about 200 meters long, with stalls selling meat, fish, fruit and vegetables, as well as souvenirs for tourists, but its greatest peculiarity is that it is located entirely on the train tracks. HISTORY: This train has been operating since 1905, but it is said that the market was already there long before the arrival of the railroad to Thailand. The train tracks began to be built where the market was, but the merchants refused to leave that work space. Since then they have remained there and every time the train passes they quickly dismantle and re-assemble their stalls, giving us a unique visual spectacle. -------------------- HOURS: The Mae Klong market opens from 7 am to 5 pm, although the most attractive moments are when the trains pass. Currently, there are 6 trains that pass each day, 3 arrivals, and 3 departures. The passing hours are 8:30, 9:00, 11:10, 11:30, 2:30 pm and 3:30 pm. -------------------- HOW TO GET THERE: location through Google Maps: https://n9.cl/xwvg8 Minivan or Minibuses: From the south (Sai Tai Mai) and north (Mo Chit) stations in Bangkok, minivans or minibuses leave directly to Samut Songkhram that take approximately 1 hour, depending on traffic, for a cost of 70 baths (approximately $2) both to go and return TAXI if there are 3 or 4 passengers, a good option is a taxi that for about 1200 baths (u$s 35) can take you and bring you back on a round trip. TRAIN It is also possible to get there by train but it takes about 3 hours and you have to connect with at least 2 trains, which is why I decided not to take this option. Maybe I will share that experience with you in another video. --------- Thank you for your time, like, comment or subscription!
