In July 1950, the government of Field Marshal P. Phibunsongkhram decided to send Thai soldiers to fight in Korea together with the United Nations forces led by the United States. What did Thailand gain and lose from joining this war? Although the Korean War ended in 1953, why did the Thai government continue to station soldiers in South Korea until 1972? What lessons from the past of more than 70 years should we learn more about?
