Mental systems play an important role in systems theory. They are closely linked to social and organic systems. Mental systems are essentially characterized by thoughts and their organization. The close coupling with the other two systems ensures that the mental system constantly receives stimuli from these and then starts its own (thought) processes. The processing of stimuli from the environment is therefore autonomous and self-organized. This important aspect ultimately ensures that perception, i.e. how we imagine the world and how we experience it, is also constructed on the basis of these stimuli. For this, systems theory draws on the concept of constructivism.
