In the third episode of the documentary series Sveta Gora: the heavenly city, the story is about the escape of the young prince Rastko Nemanjić to Athos, his monasticism, his stay in Vatopedo and the subsequent founding of Hilandar. Turbulent events from the 13th century are presented, such as the Crusader conquests and the fall of Constantinople under Latin rule, then the attempted (violent) union with the Roman Catholic Church, and the incursions of Catalan mercenaries, which together dramatically affected the life of Mount Athos.
