Surah Al-Qasas Tafseer 4 Having a Daughter Halis Bayancuk Hoca (Abu Hanzala) Surah Al-Qasas Tafseer 23-28 Verses In the tafseer of Surah Al-Qasas, where the advice given to fathers about having a daughter is explained, Moses (pbuh) leaves the country of Pharaoh and reaches Madyan, and it is narrated that Moses (pbuh) meets a righteous family there. Verses read in the 4th lesson of Surah Al-Qasas Tafseer: 23. When he came to the water of Madyan, he saw a group of people watering their flocks at the water. Apart from them, he saw two women trying to prevent them. He said to them, "What is this situation of yours? (Why do you not water your flocks)?" They said, "We do not water our flocks until the other shepherds water them. And our father is an old man." (28/Al-Qasas, 23) 24. He watered his flocks on their behalf. Then he withdrew to a shade and said, “My Lord! I am in need of whatever good You send down upon me.” (28/24) 25. One of them came to Moses, walking modestly, and said, “My father calls you to repay us for the watering you did for us.” When he went to their father and related to him what had happened, he said, “Fear not. You have been saved from the wrongdoing people.” (28/25) 26. One of them said, “O my father! Hire him as a worker. The best of those you can hire is the one who is strong and trustworthy.” (28/26) 27. (Their father) said, “I want you to marry one of my two daughters in return for your working with me for eight years. If you wish to complete ten years, she will be from you. I do not want to put hardship on you. You will find me among the righteous, God willing.” (28/Qasas, 27) 28. (Moses) said: “This is a covenant between me and you. Whichever of the two terms I complete, there is no enmity towards me. Allah is a guardian over what we say.” (28/Qasas, 28) In the interpretation of Surah Al-Qasas, Allah (swt) gives us very beautiful advice through this family that Moses (pbuh) met. These are: 1. Women and men who are close to each other should not share the same environment. 2. People who are preachers should be interested in the troubles of the people in the society and help them without expecting anything in return. 3. We should remember that we need Allah in every situation and we should pray to Allah for even our smallest request. 4.
