Sunday sermon from the book of the prophet Zechariah 8 [8] 14-19 & from the Gospel according to John 1 [10] 1-21, on 09/08/2024, speaker Sotiris Stergios --------- ----------------------------------- Scripture Quotes: 14) For thus saith the Lord of hosts; In what manner I thought to punish you, when your fathers transgressed me, says the Lord of hosts, and I did not repent, 15) so again it was thought in those days that I should prosper Jerusalem and the house of Judah; do not be afraid. 16) These are the words that you want to do: speak the truth each one to his neighbor; judge truth and judgment of peace in your gates. 17) And do not devise evil in your hearts, each one against his neighbor, and do not love false oaths, for all these are the things that I hate, says the Lord. 18) And the word of the Lord of hosts came to me, saying, 19) Thus says the Lord of hosts: The fast of the fourth month and the fast of the fifth and the fast of the week and the fast of the tenth shall be in the house of Judah in joy and gladness and upright feasts: whence ye love truth and peace. -------------------------------------------- According to John i' [10 ] 1-21 1) Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that entereth not through the gate into the sheepfold, but cometh up from another place, is a thief and a robber; 2) but he that entereth through the gate, is a shepherd of the sheep. 3) At this the porter opens, and the sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and brings them out. 4) And when he sends out his own sheep, he falls down before them, and the sheep follow him, because they know his voice. 5) But they will not follow a stranger, but will flee from him, because they do not know the voice of strangers. 6) Jesus spoke this parable to them, but they did not understand what these things were, which he spoke to them. 7) So Jesus said to them again: Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep. 8) All who came before me are stolen and robbers; but the sheep did not listen to them. 9) I am the door; by me if he enters in, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture. 10) The thief does not come, he comes to steal and sacrifice and perish; I came that they may have life and have it in abundance. 11) I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd casts his soul for the sheep; 12) and the hired and unheralded shepherd, whose sheep are not his own, sees the wolf as coming and leaves the sheep and goes away; and the wolf seizes them and scatters the sheep. 13) And the hired man leaves, because he is hired and he does not care about the sheep. 14) I am the good shepherd, and I know myself and am known under me, 15) as the Father knows me and I know the Father, and I lay down my soul for the sheep. 16) And I have other sheep, which are not of this fold; I must also gather them, and they will hear my voice, and there will be one flock, one shepherd. 17) This is why the Father loves me, because I lay down my soul in order to receive it again. 18) No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of myself; I have power to lay it down, and I have power again to take it up; I received this command from my Father. 19) So there was a schism again among the Jews because of these reasons. 20) And many of them said: He has a demon and is raging; what do you hear about him? 21) Others said: These are not the words of a demon possessed; can a demon open the eyes of the blind? --------------------------------------------- Amen
