The sugar industry is one of the oldest and most important branches of the food industry of Ukraine, the products of which until 1914, along with grain, were the most important export item. Today, the sugar industry of Ukraine allows the production of up to 2 million tons of beet sugar per year, which not only fully meets the country's domestic needs, but also creates significant export potential. And we are very pleased that a significant part of the raw material for sugar production consists of sugar beets of the KWS selection, the share of which in the fields of Ukraine is increasing from year to year. The key to obtaining high-quality products, along with the proven, modernized and improved technological regime at the plant, is the undeniable quality of sugar raw materials. And we constantly emphasize to our sugar beet growers that all agrotechnical measures (from sowing to harvesting) should be aimed precisely at maximizing the yield of a ton of sugar per hectare, not a ton of beet. This fall, we visited the very "heart" of sugar production in the Poltava Region - the Yareskiv Sugar Factory, and learned the path a beet seed takes before it becomes a sweet crystal.
