Toinho Dub promotes the encounter between samba artist Toinho Melodia and Jamaican music. In this new project, the composer from São Paulo presents his songs in reggae, dub and ska arrangements, creating an original fusion between musical styles from the Caribbean island and Brazil. Liberdade Sofrida is the project's first video and was recorded between December 2019 and February 2020, a few weeks before the coronavirus pandemic forced most of us to quarantine ourselves at home. The recording was made live at Ekord Estúdios in São Paulo. Suffering Freedom (Toinho Melodia, Jorge Florêncio, Kaká Barbosa and Augusto César) The men stopped my car and gave my henchman a beating Nothing happened, nothing happened my lord, I'm just a worker Nothing happened my lord, I'm just a worker A tremendous car passed by your jugs In the hands of this black guy He must be a tow truck, or maybe a plane I'm none of those things, I'm just a worker Nothing happened my lord, I'm just a worker How many times have I cried because I didn't have bread? I didn't make a mistake because of that, nor did I lose my reason Suffering freedom of a dreamer Who won in this life with a lot of sweat
