Jakob is in his first semester of his master's degree in computer science with a focus on software engineering at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. At first he was convinced that his strengths lay in theoretical computer science and classical programming, but in his bachelor's degree he quickly discovered the practical relevance of software engineering. Programming software has now become a passion for him. He is also carrying this passion into his studies: as a tutor in the Software Technology I course, he is now helping young students to understand the subject better. But this is not always without a challenge: together with his fellow student Luca, he is responsible for restructuring the exercises for the first time. The two tutors have been working for a month on designing exercises that will help the students understand the difficult subject matter and programming using a specific case. The course is intended to develop simple but functional software for storing drinks for the student council and a dormitory in Karlsruhe. But there is a lot at stake, because the course leader will decide in a few days whether the exercises really help the students or whether the course needs to be revised again. Will the two software engineering tutors manage to convince him of their concept or has their previous work been for nothing? In our latest episode of Alpha Uni you will find out this and a lot more about Jakob's studies!
