On the occasion of the reopening of the Lycabettus Theater and the 45th anniversary of Stavros Xarchakos' historic concerts at the theater, the ERT Archive presents a unique document: the live broadcast of Xarchakos' concert that took place on August 24, 1978. The concerts were organized by Tourism service of EOT, in the context of the "Artistic Events 1978" celebrating the composer's 15 years in the musical world. They were presented in four cycles (units of projects), between 24/8 and 3/9. The concerts of the first cycle were presented on August 24, 25 and 30. On 8/24, the first night of the first cycle was presented, which was entitled "Xarhakos 1963-1978" and included the presentation of the composer's most representative work in Greek folk song. Dimitra Galani, Antoni Kalogianni, Nikos Xylouris, Manoli Mitsias, Nikos Dimitratos and Kostas Papadopoulos and Christos Konstantinou participated in the bouzoukis. In the video we first hear George Papastefanou in the introduction of the television broadcast and we see Alexis Kostala (presenter of the concert in Lycabettus) preface the event and the great composer. The concert begins with Mitsias performing the songs "Aponi Zoi", "How small is man", "The clocks", "Two brothers", "Cry Heavens and Stars" and "From a bottom to another bottom". Then Galani appears on stage and performs the songs "The Complaint (Not Even a Thank You)", "Put Another Plate on the Table", "Red Roses", "The Moon is Lost", "Everything is Lucky". Kalogiannis then performs the songs "Smeared eyes", "Saturday evening in Kaisariani", "White day", "In Othona's years". The second part follows with songs by Xarchakos after 1971-1972 and they are songs from the theater or from the composer's song cycles. Nikos Dimitratos appears on stage and performs the songs "Black sun", "Now and forever", "This road my eyes". Xylouris is the last to appear, performing the songs "Evale o teos cinmas" (A boy in slaughterhouses), "Once upon a time", "This good world", "Thirty years", "Speechless children are coming back", "Hello, your joy Venice" ». Finally, all the singers, Galani, Mitsias, Kalogiannis, Dimitratos, come on stage and together with Xylouris they sing "Aponi zeoi", "Poverty", "In your hands they grew", "A dream bound to the Muragio", "Patience". The video we present is the original recording of the live broadcast of the concert (without titles, editing, further processing). This is a presumption of historical importance, it marks the beginning of the concerts - a milestone for the great composer's 15 years, but it also underlines the importance of ERT broadcasts in cultural events such as concerts. At the same time, it is anniversary material regarding this year's concerts of Xarhakos at the Lycabettus Theatre, which will take place, 45 years later, in the same venue, with Manolis Mitsias, a common companion from the 1978 concerts. -------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------- Subscribe to our channel : / @musicvaultgr Follow us on Facebook : https ://www.facebook.com/musicvault.gr/ Follow us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/3tragoudia/ -------------------- -------------------------------------------------- -------- Copyright belongs entirely to the creators.
