Andrea Furrer has been a hut warden with heart and soul for five years, even though she has to forgo a lot as a family person. A woman at the head of a hut is quite rare. Andrea and her team – mostly women – are available for their guests every day and cannot understand why hikers want to cancel their visit to the hut at short notice because of a few drops of rain. It is a special season for hut warden Fridli Riegg. The Glärnischhütte is being renovated and Fridli is moving from hut warden to "tent warden". During the renovation, Fridli wants to set up and look after a Nepalese base camp. "Base camp feeling instead of hut romance – like in Nepal, only closer" – that is his motto! He is looking forward to an exciting season. Can Fridli manage the balancing act between hut renovation and opening base camp? Pietro Zanoli is a trained banker and has worked in Zurich. He soon realised that this was not his world and that he preferred to spend his time in nature. 25 years ago he took over the Capanna Alpe Nimi from his uncle, high above Lake Maggiore. It is a special mountain accommodation in the Ticino Alps. The hut works together with the alpine farm with over 100 goats. The Ticino hut warden is also a goatherd, makes his own cheese and feeds his guests with it.
