This year's St. Martin's parade in Kyllburg started on November 10th, 2018 at 5 p.m. at the Kreissparkasse and, accompanied by St. Martin on his horse, led along Hochstrasse and Stiftstrasse up to the Stiftskirche. During the parade, St. Martin's songs are sung, accompanied by the Kyllburg Music Association and the Kyllburg Youth Fire Brigade in a colorful torchlight procession. The brightly lit lanterns of the many children present were partly made beforehand in class at school, at home or in kindergarten. Once at the top, the traditional begging scene is played out in front of the entrance portal of the Stiftskirche, with St. Martin sharing his coat and handing it to the freezing beggar. While the large St. Martin's fire burns, a raffle takes place, as every year. Afterwards, the big and small children receive a gingerbread man made of yeast dough from St. Martin himself. (Sorry about the poor sound quality. The film was recorded on a smartphone.)
