Nelli Kronwald grew up as the daughter of a pastor and had to submit to strict religious rules. From an early age she was taught that God's love is linked to performance. Her image of God is shaped by fear. When she married at the age of 23, she found herself in a toxic relationship. She experienced severe forms of verbal and psychological abuse in her marriage. For a long time, however, a separation was out of the question for the young woman. The pressure from the community and her own fear were too great.
