The superb medieval village and its abbey with its splendid tympanum remains one of the most important centers of art and spirituality in the West. The history of Conques is as rich as its heritage...we discover it in the company of Marie Renoue, art historian. In the middle of cultivated fields and pastures, an apparition, yet another one! You would think you were looking at a castle, with its ramparts, its moats, its fortifications, so imposing is the building in the center of the outbuildings. It is in fact a fortified wheat granary. In the Middle Ages, the Bourines estate was one of the largest estates in central France. Didier Combret describes the place to us and tells us this story which perfectly illustrates the importance of agricultural activity in this territory. Every Tuesday from 6am, the Laissac market offers a most surprising "spectacle".
