That tendency is absolutely clear," says Jan Paďourek in the current episode of the Bulletproof podcast. Paďourek is a former representative of the Czech civilian intelligence in Moscow and Washington and today the senior director of the Ministry of the Interior for internal security and police training. According to him, we too are at risk of a similar scenario as Hungary or Slovakia, if populists come to power. "I don't believe that the deputies and representatives of ANO believe what they say. Accusing Karel Řehka of being a war-monger offends me," he claims, adding that people like the Chief of the General Staff, on the other hand, realistically describe what is happening in the world today and distance the conflict from us. "It's just a populist abuse of fear and the presentation of a false and very dangerous narrative," commented a statement from the main opposition party. According to him, they have enough high-quality information in Washington about the situation on the Ukrainian front, but when the political struggle starts to be reflected in decision-making, it becomes slightly irrational, Paďourek says, adding that the conflict with China is more fundamental for America now. "I do not believe that the collapse of the Ukrainian defense is imminent. From this point of view, we still have time to fix some things," he explains, adding that the main interest in the defense of Ukraine lies in Europe. "We should transfer a far greater part of the responsibility to us and not rely only on the United States," he concludes. What is the role of intelligence services in a troubled world? And why can't the Czech Republic be an intelligence power? This is what the current episode of the Bulletproof podcast is about, which you can watch on Youtube, Spotify, Apple Music and other podcast platforms. ===== Become a member of the Voxpot Club and get access to the editorial Discord, full articles and other club bonuses at https://www.voxpot.cz/klub/
