Slagharen amusement park opens on May 22! The government has announced that the relaxations from step 2 of the step-by-step plan will definitely come into effect. That is fantastic news for Slagharen amusement park. Saturday, May 22, will be a modest but festive opening, because it also started during the Pentecost weekend in 1963. To honor the history of the park, the Pioneer Express 63 will open at the same time on Saturday, as a tribute to the founders of the park. Slagharen, 18-5-2021 - General Manager - Dave Storm - speaks out: ''Just like in 2020, the pre-planned opening date for 2021 did not seem self-evident. But fortunately the tide has turned and the time has come to have fun together again in the amusement park. The holiday park was already open during the past holiday weeks and the outdoor locations in the amusement park will be added to this as of the Pentecost weekend. We are therefore ready and our employees are eager to get back to work. We believe that with the current corona measures we can offer a safe day out, as we have done for most of 2020. Of course we will use the opening to celebrate together with our guests and employees that spring is in full swing and the park is opening its gates again, a highlight in itself''. New: Pioneer Express On February 20, 2021, the founder of Shetland Ponypark Slagharen, Henk Bemboom, would have turned 100. To honor him, the Attraction & Holiday Park Slagharen is now renaming the completely renovated monorail the “Pioneer Express”. The theming of the monorail is of course in Wild West style. The restyled attraction runs through a tunnel parallel to the Main Street, in which large-format photos from the early years of Slagharen are displayed. The bar, through which the monorail also runs, is decorated as the original office of Bemboom Senior. A beautiful piece of nostalgia and tribute to the history of the park. Safely & carefree on the road The 'Safely Together Out' protocol, which was drawn up last year together with the trade associations Club van Elf and the Dutch Association of Zoos, will also be in effect in 2021. The Park has worked towards a new normal, in which having fun remains the priority, but the additional measures have been integrated into the business operations. For example, the advance online booking of an entrance ticket will also remain in effect in 2021 in order to be able to control visitor capacity. To encourage guests to book a day out or holiday in the Netherlands, Slagharen offers flexible rebooking. This means that guests can start the anticipation without any worries. Should a corona situation unexpectedly arise, the booking or reservation of the ticket can be converted.
