The way deaf people are represented in different legal text genres directly affects whether or not the translator and interpreter of Libras-Portuguese is valued. One example of this is the way deaf people are represented in court rulings. In other words, the dialogue between access to justice and deaf people is something that urgently needs to be considered in the field of translation and interpretation policies. Therefore, in this closing panel we seek to discuss SL Translation and Interpretation Policies: institutional management and future projections. It is necessary to point out what institutional management can do to better articulate innovative practices that effectively guarantee the rights of deaf people. This discussion should not be separated from the entities representing translators and interpreters, deaf people and the judiciary. If articulated, future projections point to important paths in the search for linguistic, social and cultural equity in both the legal and academic-institutional systems.
