Dong Bang Shuo (154 BC - 92 BC) was an official in the mid-Han Dynasty. His courtesy name was Mancheon (曼倩), and he was from Yancha County (厭次縣) in Pingyuan Commandery. He was a person who served as Taizhong Dafu (太中大夫) during the reign of Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty. Because of his outstanding appearance, witty speech, and bold behavior, Dong Bang Shuo created a lot of rumors even while he was alive. It is said that people especially liked Dong Bang Shuo's humor and eloquence, and tales related to Dong Bang Shuo were widely popular in Korea as well.
