Saint Joseph, guardian of the Redeemer and husband of the Virgin Mary, was a saint whom God subjected to a great purification. Faced with the mystery of the Incarnation of the eternal Son in the womb of the Virgin Mary, Joseph certainly suffered and cried, having to deal with God's silence. With his life, the Patriarch of the Holy Family teaches us that true union with God necessarily passes through the “dark night of the soul,” through which the Lord denies us something we desire so much, in order to give us a greatness and dignity that we cannot even imagine. This homily was given by Father Paulo Ricardo on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, during Mass at the Carmel of Saint Joseph, in Várzea Grande (MT).
