The first book in the Post-War series How Moscow deceived the West in 1945 is available at: https://powojnie.sklep.pl #history #powojnie Hello! In this episode of the Post-War series, I addressed a topic on the border between the war and post-war periods. What happened to the German gold after World War II. Where did the Nazis try to hide it? How did the Americans find its trail? You will find answers to these questions in the latest installment of my series. The president of the Reichsbank was Walther Funk - a trusted man of Adolf Hitler. The Third Reich grew rich by conquering other European countries. Hitler's Germany appropriated, among other things, 2.5 million dollars from the reserves of the Czech National Bank and 32 million dollars from the Hungarian National Bank. At the height of the Nazi conquest of Europe, the reserves of the Reichsbank reached a value of over 770 million dollars, which in today's terms can be valued at 6.5 billion dollars. On February 3, 1945, as a result of an Allied air raid on the headquarters of the Reichsbank in Berlin, 21 bombs fell. In the following days, in accordance with the decision of the president of the Reichsbank, the contents of the vault were to be moved to a potash mine in Merkers in Thuringia. The first part of the valuables was sent on February 9, 1945. The Reich's assets were in their new location after only 9 days. With further Allied successes in Berlin, the decision was made to move the gold again. However, it was made too late because the Americans were quickly conquering the territory. However, not all of the Nazi gold fell into the hands of the Allies when they were already there... Part of the Reich's assets was taken to the south. Where exactly? You will find out by watching the latest episode. Most of the materials used in the film come from the public domain. I would like to thank all patrons for supporting the channel on Patronite.
