About :

The SB-1 Defiant is a high-speed multi-purpose helicopter project being implemented by Sikorsky and Boeing. The project is aimed at participating in the military program for the creation of new-generation transports and replacing the UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters. The SB-1 has an unusual layout for a helicopter, developed on the basis of Sikorsky's research on their XH-59 and X-2 programs. It is equipped with a large coaxial main rotor, as well as a pusher propeller in the tail, providing acceleration. Thanks to such solutions, the Defiant is capable of accelerating to speeds of up to 247 knots (457 km / h), which makes it one of the fastest helicopters in the world. At the moment, the project is still in the development stage, the prototype has passed a significant part of the testing program, and Boeing and Sikorsky have also announced its upgraded version, called Defiant X.
