Sac Ly Hill (Charlie Hill - High Point 1015) is a place located at the junction of three districts: Sa Thay, Dak To and Ngoc Hoi, in Kon Tum province. This place is famous for many fierce battles between the Army of the Republic of Vietnam and the US Army with the People's Army of Vietnam and the Liberation Army of South Vietnam. This place is also known for its very high concentration of dioxin due to the effects of the defoliant that the US army had sprayed. In the fiery summer of April 1972, the battle took place at Sac Ly Hill between the 64th Regiment - 320th Division of the Vietnam People's Army and the 11th Battalion - 2nd Airborne Brigade of the Army of the Republic of Vietnam, leaving behind many painful losses. Although the Airborne troops of the Republic of Vietnam were repelled from the stronghold, the liberation army suffered huge losses with more than 300 soldiers of the 320th Division falling. On the side of the Republic of Vietnam, the battalion commander of the 11th Airborne Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Dinh Bao, died in battle when a 130mm artillery shell hit the command bunker. The US then used B52 aircraft to carpet bomb the battlefield, wiping out the battlefield as soon as the Airborne troops withdrew from Sac Ly without being able to take the body of their battalion commander with them. And so, Lieutenant Colonel Bao remained forever on the top of Sac Ly hill. From this story, musician Tran Thien Thanh composed the song "Nguoi o lai Sac Ly" to talk about the above event. -------------------------------------- If you find the video interesting, don't forget to click LIKE, SUBSCRIBE and SHARE. ▶️ Channel address: https://www.youtube.com/c/TungTangKhác... ▶️ For any information, please contact: [email protected].
