The Rostock tram now has a route length of 35.6 kilometers with 64 stops. The first horse-drawn tram ran in 1881, the first electric one in 1904. The first modern low-floor articulated trams have been in use since 1994. During the GDR era, the trams were of the LOWA and Gotha type.
