At midday on October 22nd, the Mühlheim fire department was alerted to a roof fire in the Rote-Warte settlement. As the Mühlheim turntable ladder was broken at the time, the Obertshausen-Hausen fire department was called in with the turntable ladder. Clear smoke was already visible on the way there. The Lämmerspiel and Dietesheim districts and the Obertshausen fire department were therefore called in to provide support. When they arrived, flames were already blazing from the roof, and a quick and extensive fire-fighting attack brought the fire under control after a short time. The roof had to be partially opened for follow-up extinguishing work. A resident of the house was taken to hospital with suspected smoke poisoning. A firefighter also suffered minor injuries (foam in the eyes) and had to be treated by the emergency services on site. A total of 9 teams wearing breathing apparatus were deployed. The fire department had over 60 men on site. An emergency doctor and three ambulances were also on site.
