This is the 3rd episode of my visit to Sítio Roberto Burle Marx. A true cultural and botanical gem located in Brazil. Located about 50 km from Rio de Janeiro, more precisely in Guaratiba, the site has approximately 400 thousand square meters and was conceived and executed by the Brazilian Roberto Burle Marx, an artist, architect, and landscaper whose genius is admired throughout the world. On this visit, in particular, we focused on Sombral Graziela Barroso, which was where Roberto Burle Marx housed his collection of understory plants, mostly Araceae. Sítio Roberto Burle Marx, part 4: • Roberto Burle Marx: the site of a gen... With a harmonious combination of art, landscaping and environmental conservation, the site is a testament to the creative genius of Burle Marx. He transformed the property into a lush garden, featuring more than 3,000 species of tropical and native plants, some of them rare and endangered. The site is a true living museum of nature, where visitors can contemplate the diversity of flora, appreciate sculptures and works of art scattered throughout the grounds and feel the deep connection between man and the environment. Burle Marx's bold and innovative landscaping has inspired generations of professionals and landscape enthusiasts around the world. Additionally, the site houses a historic house that served as Burle Marx’s own residence and is a vivid portrait of his personality and lifestyle. You can visit his studios and workspaces, delving into the intimacy of his creative mind. Sítio Roberto Burle Marx is more than a tourist destination; it is a sanctuary for art, culture and nature, offering an enriching experience for those who visit it. Preserving this heritage is crucial to ensuring that future generations can appreciate and learn from the legacy of this Brazilian visionary and his incredible contribution to the tropical landscape. I am immensely grateful to Carlos, Sandra and Suzana for their patience and for teaching us so much about a true Brazilian genius who should be revered.
