To be honest, now I want to know for myself. My last video "Do you need a charging booster in a motorhome? NO!" got people excited. Without many viewers really knowing how our motorhome works, there was a barrage of criticism. The tone was that every motorhome with LiFePO4 batteries must have a charging booster (DC-DC charger). This is because the lithium batteries attract high charging currents on their own. In addition, my alternator cannot fully charge the lithium batteries. For me, this was an ideal opportunity to counter some of the nonsense in the comments. "My fuse would blow" or "It would melt my cables" or "It would burn down my motorhome" were common comments. So what should I do? Conduct a tough risk test! It was clear to me. Either I would be able to continue making videos after this, or it would be one last and very expensive video. Our motorhome has a completely normal alternator that works very powerfully and reliably. That's why a charging booster is not a must. That is my claim and is also explained in this video. To empty 330 Ah, you need powerful consumers, which is not that easy. In the end, I chose a high-pressure cleaner, which I connected to the external socket of our motorhome. This drew more than 100 A of current and at times exceeded the output of 1,500 W. Even after almost four hours of washing the car, the battery was still not empty, which is why I connected additional consumers overnight. In the end, I managed to empty the BullTron lithium batteries to 22.8% of their total capacity. That is a good value for starting a spontaneous short trip with the motorhome. Over a journey of around 2 hours and 35 minutes, you can see how the batteries fill up just through the power of the alternator - without a charging booster. Will a charging power of 50 A be exceeded on the trip? Will there be a breakdown? Will our motorhome possibly catch fire?
