1. Thirteen dark years 2. Seven fat years 3. Seven lean years For the next sermon: • Rev. G. van Zanden Genesis 42 The t... Pharaoh dreams 1 And it came to pass at the end of two full years, that Pharaoh dreamed: and behold, he stood by the Nile. 2 And behold, seven cows came up out of the Nile, goodly in appearance and fat, and they fed in the reed grass. 3 And behold, after them came up out of the Nile seven other cows, ugly in appearance and lean, and they stood by the other cows by the bank of the Nile. 4 And the ugly and lean cows ate up the seven goodly and fat cows. Then Pharaoh awoke. 5 And he slept again, and dreamed the second time, and behold, seven ears of corn came up on one stalk, fat and good. 6 And behold, after it came up seven thin ears, scorched by the east wind. 7 The thin ears devoured the seven plump and full ears. Then Pharaoh awoke, and behold, it was a dream. 8 And it came to pass on the morrow, that his spirit was troubled; and he sent and called all the magicians of Egypt, and all the wise men thereof; and Pharaoh told them his dream; but there was none that could interpret it unto Pharaoh. 9 And the chief butler said unto Pharaoh, This day will I remember my sins. 10 And Pharaoh was angry with his servants at that time, and he put me in custody in the house of the captain of the guard, both me and the chief baker. 11 And we both had a dream in the same night, I and he; each of us had his own dream, and each his own interpretation. 12 And there was with us a Hebrew boy, a servant of the captain of the guard; and we told him, and he interpreted our dreams unto us: and he spake unto us, and said unto us, I will remember my sins. to each he gave interpretation according to his dream. 13 And as he interpreted it to us, so it happened: Pharaoh restored me to my office, and him he hanged. 14 Then Pharaoh sent messengers and called Joseph. They brought him quickly out of the dungeon; they shaved him, changed his clothes, and he came in to Pharaoh. Sermons by Rev. P. den Ouden are on Evangelie Herauten with his permission.
