Refurbishing a Rolleiflex 2.8 F from the 60s Those who work with analog cameras often use machines that left the factory thirty, sixty, ninety years ago. The complicated mechanisms can suffer from failures, the cameras, alas, can fall, but few know that these cameras, whose mechanisms are greased and lubricated in the factory, over time can suffer a deterioration of these precious adjuvants, until the machine stops self-lubricating and more serious problems arise, such as wear of the mechanisms. For this reason it is advisable to contact a photo repairer, not only when the machine, for whatever reason, stops working, but also for periodic and physiological maintenance, usually every five years, and this regardless of the number of rolls that have been shot. We spent an afternoon with a skilled Italian photo repairman, Sandro Presta, to whom we entrusted a Rolleiflex with the self-timer system blocked and which, during the disassembly phases, turned out to be completely dry in terms of lubrication and greasing and with a significant misalignment of the viewing lens group, shooting lens. In addition to thanking Sandro Presta for having dedicated hours of his precious and unique time to us, I want to "warn" my viewers with this video that as I explained, there is not only the repair, but also the fundamental overhaul of the camera. If you regularly service your car every so many kilometers or time, put yourself in the same perspective "!!!" for your cameras too. As always, the video is quite long, I ask you in your own interest to watch it to the end, to really understand what is hidden behind the innocent covering skin of a Rolleiflex, among other things a camera equipped with sophisticated and very complicated mechanics. Enjoy the viewing, everyone.
