Which questionable ingredients are in ready-made pizza doughs? And which of the purchased doughs tastes best? A nutritionist and the world champion in pizza baking do the test with us. ----------- This video is an extract from the broadcast on January 18, 2022, see http://x.swr.de/s/13z1 ----------- PIZZA DOUGH FROM THE SUPERMARKET Ready-made pizza dough for homemade pizza from the oven at home can now be found in every refrigerated shelf in the supermarket. We check out the branded products from Tante Fanny and Henglein for 1.99 euros each. In contrast, there are three own brands from Edeka, Rewe and Aldi for 1.19 euros each and an organic pizza dough from Alnatura for 2.49 euros. WHAT'S IN IT? All ready-made doughs, with the exception of the organic product from Alnatura, contain diphosphates. These are artificial phosphates. Increased consumption of this type accelerates our aging. Also contained in the dough: oil. The products from Alnatura, Rewe and Tante Fanny use low-quality sunflower oil. A healthier alternative would be olive or rapeseed oil. TASTE TEST The pizza dough from Rewe was not convincing with its "neutral" taste. In contrast, the organic dough from Alnatura tastes good, despite its hard consistency. The dough from Aldi was also convincing in terms of taste. CONCLUSION The dough from Aldi is the clear winner among the ready-made doughs. Second place goes to the product from Henglein. Tante Fanny and the inexpensive own brand from Edeka are tied. The organic dough does a little worse, but it is the only one without phosphates. The Rewe product was the least convincing.
