Yamamoto Shugoro (June 22, 1903 - February 14, 1967) was a Japanese novelist. His real name was Shimizu Satomu. He was born in Yamanashi Prefecture. After graduating from Nishimae Elementary School in Yokohama, he lived and worked as an apprentice at Yamamoto Shugoro Shoten in Kobikicho, Tokyo. In 1926, his novel "Sumadera Fukyo" was published in Bungeishunju, and became his literary breakthrough. His novel "Nihon Fujidoki" was nominated for the Naoki Prize in the first half of 1943, but he refused the award.
