Ramayan - Episode 29 - Meet Jatayu. Panchavati Residence. Shurpanakha incident. Ram, Lakshman and Sita meet Maharshi Agastya in Dandakvan. An unprecedented scene is seen here. All three bow to Agastya and Agastya bows to them too. Ram and Agastya also take blessings from each other and give them. In fact, Maharshi Agastya knows that Lord Vishnu, Sheshnag and Goddess Lakshmi themselves have come to his ashram to fulfill the purpose of the gods. To ensure that Ram fulfills his purpose of coming on earth, Maharshi Agastya advises him to build a hut in Panchavati and live there. The camp of demons is close by. Agastya knows through divine power that a period of troubles is about to begin for Ram, so he gives him many divine weapons. This includes Lord Vishnu's bow made by Vishwakarma which is unbreakable. He gives Akshay Tundir to Ram and Lakshman, all the four arrows kept in it return to the Tundir after killing the enemy. Maharishi Agastya gives Lakshman a sword capable of conquering the three worlds. He also gives Ram the infallible arrow of Shiva with which he killed Tripurasur. Ram leaves for Panchavati. He meets vulture king Jatayu near the Godavari river. Jatayu had become friends with King Dasharath in the war between gods and demons. Jatayu tells him that Maharishi Kashyap had two sons. One son Garun went to serve Lord Vishnu and the other son Arun merged into Lord Surya. Jatayu is the son of this Arun. Jatayu promises to protect Panchavati. Lakshman builds a very beautiful hut in Panchavati. Twelve years of exile have passed. Sita expresses her wish to stay in Panchavati for the remaining two years. Ram becomes very impatient remembering mother Kaushalya. Now it is proving difficult for both Ram and Kaushalya to spend the remaining time of exile. But the most difficult test of Ram's life is waiting for him. One day, while going through the sky, the demoness Shurpanakha sees Ram meditating in Panchvati. She gets attracted to him. Shurpanakha comes to Ram in the guise of a beautiful woman and disturbs his meditation and introduces herself. Shurpanakha says that she is the sister of Ravana, the grandson of Maharishi Pulastya and son of Rishi Vishrava. She also tells him about her brothers Kumbhakaran, Khar and Dushan and proposes love to Ram. Ram introduces his wife Sita to Shurpanakha. Shurpanakha again presses Ram for marriage by giving him the option of eating Sita or keeping her as a maid. Ram instigates Shurpanakha and refuses. Then Shurpanakha's lustful eyes fall on Lakshman. Now she goes to him with a marriage proposal. Lakshmana tells Shurpanakha that she is her brother's slave, Shurpanakha should understand the difference between a slave and a master. Lakshmana asks Shurpanakha to go to Rama again and propose. Shurpanakha gets furious at this. She feels that Rama is rejecting her proposal because of Sita. She comes in her real demonic form and attacks Sita. Then, getting a signal from Rama, Lakshmana cuts Shurpanakha's nose with a sword. Shurpanakha leaves from there, warning to take revenge for this insult. Rama gets suspicious of something bad happening. He asks Lakshmana to be careful.
