Photo taken near a railroad crossing near Odakyu Shinjuku Station. Since it is in the middle of a curve, it is an inside switch. It is also a point where the tracks from the above-ground platform and the underground platform branch off and join. The day of the photo was a Saturday afternoon, but the train schedule was overcrowded and trains were coming one after another. (Since the crossing was not open, many people seemed to cross using the overbridge.) The schedule is still overcrowded between Yoyogi-Uehara and Shinjuku. The Shinjuku Station premises extend up to this point, but Minami-Shinjuku Station is nearby. As you may know, Odakyu's Shinjuku Station has a two-story system with above-ground and underground platforms. (The underground platform is for local trains, and the above-ground platform is for Romancecar, express, and rapid express trains.) The above-ground and underground platforms are designed to prevent the flow of trains that turn around from crossing, and it is an excellent wiring facility that can handle a large number of trains in a limited area. However, it seems that the switch was installed in the middle of a curve. Not only was the location convenient, but the timetable also necessitated the installation of a switch at this location. Looking at the nearby departure signals, there was a third departure signal on both the track from the aboveground platform and the track from the underground platform (from 7:00 in the video). It seems that this point of junction can also be used like a quadruple track, making a dense timetable possible. Scenes of switch switching can be seen from 2:01, 3:21, and 13:53. It's quite a sight to see a railroad crossing in the middle of the city. I shot this video nearby Shinjuku station of the Odakyu Odawara Line. (Private railway operator Odakyu Electric Railway) There are curved switches in this station. The train passes by making a loud noise.
