“Racism is a violence that will not leave your mind.” - Benilda Brito. Benilda Brito, Educator and Master in Social Management, talks about the educational process of black children in Brazil, still very marked by structural racism. The educator explains how discrimination directly contributes to the learning process of these students, with one of the consequences being low academic performance. To repair the damage caused by years of denied education, Benilda explains that the Black Social Movement has been organizing for a long time to prepare teachers to deal with racial identity. She reinforces the importance of non-formal education, also passed on by the elderly to the young, which guarantees the survival and wisdom of black people.
