Edited and presented by Panagiotis Ant. Andriopoulos. ______________________________________________________________________ Angelos Bentis was born in Alexandroupoli. He began his musical studies in Byzantine church music at the age of 9 in Alexandroupolis with the late Georgios Svyntridis, his grandfather and cantor of the Holy Metropolis of Alexandroupolis. At the same time, in the last grades of elementary school, he started the theory of European music. At the age of 18, he received his diploma in Byzantine music with the grade of Excellent. After 3 months he was admitted to the Department of Music Science and Art of the University of Macedonia, in the direction of Byzantine music. He is preparing his two-volume pioneering thesis entitled "Lykourgos Angelopoulos and the Greek Byzantine Choir - Morphological, palaeographical and interpretative approaches to the psalm verse "Then sing to them" in audio pl. d', set to music by I. Koukouzeli". The presentation of the work takes place at the University of Macedonia, in the presence of professors of musicology, musicologists, composers, cantors, and also the Archon Protopsaltos of the Archdiocese of Constantinople, the late Lykourgos Angelopoulos himself. He graduated in 2011 from the Department of Music Science and Art and the direction of Byzantine music, specializing in: Interpretation and performance of Psalter with a grade of 9.73, i.e. the highest grade of the year's graduates. He holds a degree in Harmony with a grade of Excellence. He completed two years of postgraduate studies at the highest educational institution SRH Hochschule, in the city of Heidelberg in Germany, where he graduated with a Master of Arts degree in Music Therapy. During the Holy Week of 2010, he was sent by the Ecumenical Patriarchate and sang at the Resurrection services at the Greek Embassy in Ankara. In his liturgical career up until now, he has been a Lampadari of I.N. Panagia Dexia of the Holy Metropolis of Thessaloniki, then he was Protopsaltis of I.N. Saint George of Frankfurt of the Holy Metropolis of Germany and subsequently Chancellor of the Holy Church of Saint George of the Holy Metropolis of Alexandroupolis. Angelos Bentis has participated in many festivals and events with musical groups and Byzantine choirs, but also with European polyphonic choirs, both in Greece and abroad (Istanbul, London, Aachen in Germany, Moscow, Belgium, Barcelona, Luxembourg). He worked as a music therapist at the creative employment center for the disabled of the SOS Children's Village of Thrace, as a pre-school music teacher at the "Agios Stylianos" kindergarten of the Patriarchal Ecclesiastical Foundation of the Holy Metropolis of Alexandroupolis, while at the same time he founded and directed the Children's Choir of the Holy Metropolis of Alexandroupolis.
