Director Yamada expressed his joy at the sales of "Otoko wa Tsurai yo Tora-san DVD Magazine" exceeding expectations, commenting, "It's been more than 40 years since the Tora-san series began, but I think that those who saw it at the cinema when it was released and those who watch it now on DVD will enjoy it in a different way. If anything, rather than the burst of laughter (from back then), I think it's more of a healing feeling." He went on to say, "I thought I'd made a variety of films, but looking back, I've always made stories about 'family.'" He spoke emotionally about his own directorial work, saying, "I sincerely hope that this DVD magazine will lead to an opportunity for young people who have never seen my work to see it." On the other hand, Takeda said, "My acting history began with 'Yellow Handkerchief of Happiness'," and added, "'Yellow Handkerchief of Happiness' is the white line at the starting line.
