This is a consultation from an artist who sells knitting works. We talked about what you can do and how to think about making knitting your main job. ▼Minne, one of Japan's largest handmade and handcrafted mail order sites by GMO Pepabo https://bit.ly/3LlZpUh ▼For those who want to sell handmade works online https://bit.ly/36D5kpt ▼Questioner this time (no. 134) Anonymous artist--------------------------------- Hello Mao. I am currently working as an artist, mainly knitting, while raising three children. I was originally working full-time, but I became ill and was no longer able to continue my favorite work. At that time, I was encouraged to try working as an artist with knitting, which I had always loved, so I started selling on minne around September 2021, and started selling on other sites around December. I originally loved making things, so I have a lot of fun working every day. I fully understand that my photos and descriptions are still insufficient and need to be organized, but thankfully, sales started to start around 2-3 months after I started, and I started receiving reviews. We sell mainly baby and kids items on a made-to-order basis, but we have a wide range of sizes, so we have a wide range of products for adults as well. However, because they are knitted, some items take half a day to several days to complete, so we cannot mass-produce them. In December, we received several orders in one day, and I was very happy to be able to knit and to think that everyone would be happy with them, but I was busy knitting and shipping every day, so I was knitting whenever I had some free time. I think I need to make some adjustments because my production time and private time are mixed together, but in the first year, there are things I want to sell depending on the season, so I want to make prototypes, and I get so absorbed in it. I also realized that if I can't mass-produce, there will be a limit to my sales. However, I started to think that I would like to increase my sales as much as possible and work on it as my main job. I wanted to set the price after properly considering the hourly wage, because I said that knitting is a luxury item, but I hesitated because I was too stingy and thought that it would be too expensive, so I couldn't change the price. Is it difficult to earn a living from knitting alone? Is there anything I can do to increase my income from knitting other than raising my prices and organizing my gallery? This was a long and disorganized post, but I'm going to try my best. I look forward to hearing from you. --------------------------------- ■ We are always looking for artists to share their concerns: https://bit.ly/3bDCtOy ■ Please also send us your thoughts on the video: https://bit.ly/2YRj8ph [Related videos] Question 88: "Did you know about [qualitative and quantitative goals]?
