The twentieth century marked a crucial milestone for the area of the Ostrava-Jih municipal district. The original three separate villages became part of one large housing estate. The process began with the construction of workers' colonies already in the first half of the 20th century, and from the 1960s until the 1990s, three old (Hrabůvka, Výškovice, Zábřeh nad Odrou) and one new cadastre (Dubina) panel housing estates were built. The process of building colonies and panel housing estates in the South will be the subject of a lecture by Marián Lipták and Petr Lexa Přendík. You will see a number of period pictures, drawings and plans. During the live broadcast, you will learn basic data and points of interest from the areas of individual housing units, and you will also be able to send your questions directly. Marian Lipták is one of the greatest experts in prefab houses and housing estates in our country. Since his early youth, he has been engaged in researching individual typical houses, panel systems, architecture and urban planning of panel housing estates in his spare time. He collaborated on the preparation of several publications and brings his knowledge about prefab houses to the public not only through lectures, but also in the form of articles in city and municipal newsletters. Petr Lexa Přendík has been working as a full-time chronicler in the Ostrava-Jih district since 2017. He is the author of several publications about his territory. He is also known to the public through the Club of Czech Velocipedists Moravan Ostrava-Hrabůvka, zs as its chairman and also as a collector of historic bicycles. Ostravans are introduced to the history of the southern part of the city through the Lexikon Jihu Facebook page. He presents local history to people directly in the field as part of his project of commented walks of the Ostrava footpath.
