With one of his last breaths, Joseph Biden gave permission for the use of long-range weapons on Russian soil, and the French and British decided that they would gladly go to war with Russia in Eastern Europe. After the United States received permission, Ukraine immediately launched long-range ATACMS missiles into the Bryansk region of Russia, where an ammunition depot was hit. The next day, the Ukrainian Air Force launched Storm Shadow cruise missiles into the Kursk region of Russia. In response to the Ukrainian missile attacks, on November 21, Vladimir Putin presented a new medium-range hypersonic ballistic missile called the “Oresnik”, designed to carry multiple warheads at once. This is called MIRV in the literature. MIRV is an abbreviation for multiple independently targetable reentry vehicle, i.e. an independently targetable warhead. A MIRV-equipped intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) carries multiple warheads instead of one, which can be directed at multiple different targets. The hypersonic missile reenters the Earth's atmosphere at a speed of Mach 10, or about 13,000 km/h, while air defense missiles are usually capable of speeds of Mach 6-8.
