The withdrawal was carried out hastily, without a full plan, without studying the route, bridges, and culverts. The people and the soldiers' families also evacuated, creating an uncontrolled chaos. This was an irreparable strategic mistake by the highest commanders of the Army of the Republic of Vietnam. The Liberation Army's continuous pursuit caused great damage to the retreating army, resulting in tens of thousands of soldiers being killed and wounded, thousands of war vehicles being destroyed and confiscated...
