The Government of Tanzania through the Arusha Technical College (ATC) is implementing the construction project of its Kikuletwa Campus which was originally a power generation facility established by the German government in 1930. The construction project located in Hai District, Kilimanjaro Region is being implemented through the East Africa Regional Integration and Capacity Building Project (EASTRIP) funded by the World Bank and aims to upgrade the campus into a center of excellence in renewable energy. Speaking after visiting the Campus and inspecting the ongoing construction, the Hai District Commissioner, Hon. Amiri Mohamed Mkalipa, said the project was initiated by President Samia due to the productivity that will be achieved there. “We thank Hon. President because this project dates back to 1930, now Hon. President has raised this idea and implemented it today, an idea from 1930, the project is very good, we congratulate our colleagues at Arusha Technical under the Principal, they are managing it well, the buildings have gone well and the standards have been observed,” said Hon. Mkalipa. He also added that "we as a government are looking at the productivity that will be achieved here, in one go, about 600 students will study here, and these are young students, the mission of this College is to prepare Tanzanian youth to go to the big project of the Mwalimu Nyerere Dam and good luck has fallen on our Hai District" added Hon. Mkalipa. And the Principal of the Arusha Technical College Dr. Musa Chacha said that the Campus after completion will be able to produce professionals who will be able to meet the criteria to work in East African countries. "This project is for East Africa, these centers of excellence are in Tanzania, Kenya and Ethiopia, the role given to us at the Arusha Technical College is to prepare young people who will work in East Africa and around the world" said Dr. Chacha. Arusha Technical College received a total of 37 billion Tanzanian shillings through the EASTRIP Project under the World Bank to upgrade its Kikuletwa Campus into a center of excellence in the renewable energy sector #Kikuletwa #wilayayaHai #project #arusha_technical_college #Chuo_cha_Ufundi_Arusha
