My big wheels touched the rear arches when the Volga drove over uneven surfaces or hit a hole at speed. We decided to get rid of the problem of rubbing rubber by using a narrower axle from an early 31029. It is already solid and has a 3.9 main pair, like modern axles, but much narrower than the 31105 axle - this is a big plus for us. However, its bolt pattern is still old.
