Germany's oldest museum railway has its origins in Bruchhausen-Vilsen in Lower Saxony, 30 kilometers south of Bremen. On a narrow-gauge line between the villages of Bruchhausen-Vilsen and Asendorf that is quite short at eight kilometers but all the more scenically attractive, the members of the German Railway Association show narrow-gauge railway traffic as it used to be - with typical steam and diesel locomotives and railcars, and have been doing so for over 40 years. The first museum railway in Germany was founded here and here, on the edge of the Geest, the oldest German open-air railway museum presents a perfectly functioning railway operation. A film by Susanne Mayer-Hagmann, (episode 649 from September 23, 2007)
