Open the garlic cloves and remove the bitter part. Place the potatoes and garlic in the pan with the thyme, bay leaf and salt. Add the milk. Fill the pan with hot water. Wait for approximately 35 minutes to cook, until the potatoes are soft. Mash the potatoes with a potato masher. Mix everything with a whisk, on the stove, adding the butter until the puree has a very creamy consistency.
