When dividing the root of a peony, large blind (i.e. without buds) roots are often left behind, which either broke off accidentally during division, or there was a need to shorten a too-long root before planting. Do not throw them away. Try digging them in the garden and see what happens. Perhaps the root will produce a bud and in a few years will turn into a full-fledged peony bush. My experiment consisted of immersing the fragments of peony roots in slightly moistened soil in a container and leaving them on a cool balcony to observe the process of budding. The result, which surprised me, is in this video ☺️ So far, coral-colored peonies “bud” best. Varieties that do not produce buds before the beginning of winter will remain on the balcony until spring to continue observations. #peony #budspeonyroots #peonyroots #blindrootsofpeony #budsonblindroots
