One of the oldest means of mass communication, radio, continues to make a difference in the lives of many people. This is the case for thousands of women who live in the Amazon, in areas far from urban centers, who have a battery-powered radio as their constant companion. It is through these radio waves that they listen to the program Viva Maria, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary on the air, on Rádio Nacional da Amazônia. Anchored by radio host Mara Régia, Viva Maria provides citizenship, health guidance and debate on violence against women. It is the story of some of these Marias that the public will get to know on Caminhos da Reportagem. The program will also feature Rádio Nacional in Rio de Janeiro, which made history in Brazilian culture and has reinvented the auditorium programs that were so successful in the past. It is worth remembering that Rádio Nacional do Rio and Rádio MEC are celebrating their 75th anniversary.
