Everyone who has not spoken out against it during their lifetime will then be considered an organ donor. A system change that was approved at the ballot box. The referendum campaign has shown that hardly any procedure is as emotionally charged as a transplant. This involves two operations: the removal of organs from a deceased person and the implantation of organs in the recipient, who would die without the donation. Two paths in life cross in dramatic hours. "DOK" shows the life stories of patients on the waiting list, the process of organ removal, but also people who have lived with a stranger's organ for months or years. It is about relatives who, in the face of the tragic death of a family member, have to quickly decide whether or not they agree to an organ donation.
