The village of Verkhniy Zgid is the highest in North Ossetia. It is located at an altitude of more than two kilometers above sea level. And its fate is incredibly dramatic: once there was a prosperous mining village here. But now, looking at the remains of former luxury, it is hard to believe. The community center, school, restaurant and administrative buildings are abandoned. A real Caucasian Silent Hill, Verkhniy Zgid is almost completely empty. In the last few years, people have begun to return here to live and work. But, of course, not underground, but on the surface.
